FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The case against an Oil City woman accused of aggravated assault and related charges has been held for court.

According to court documents, the following charges against 52-year-old Bonnie Lynette Wheeler, of Oil City, have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– Disorderly Conduct — Unreasonable Noise, Misdemeanor 3

According to a criminal complaint, Oil City Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Willow and Glenview around 10:42 on December 2 for a report of a female standing on the porch of a residence acting in a strange manner and yelling.

When officers made contact with the female — later identified as Bonnie Wheeler — she stated she was just cleaning the house out and pointed to a pile of blankets laying on the porch.

The complaint states that when officers attempted to talk to Wheeler about the incident, she refused to speak with them. When officers told her that she was being placed under arrest, “she tried to enter the residence and yelled, ‘No.'”

According to the complaint, “(Wheeler) fought with officers and was taken to the ground and handcuffed.” Officers stated that she refused to walk to the police vehicle to be transported and become combative. Upon getting her to the vehicle, she allegedly refused to get into the car and kicked an officer twice.

Once she was at the Oil City Police Station, “she had to be removed from the car and again became combative all the way to the holding cell,” the complaint continues.

She was later arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish and lodged in the Venango County Jail on $15,000.00 monetary bail.

Court documents indicate the Venango County Court of Common Pleas received the original papers from Central Court on December 27, and the information was filed.

The case is currently awaiting a formal arraignment in the Court of Common Pleas.

Unable to post bail, Wheeler remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.
