OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City woman is facing child endangerment and related charges after allegedly leaving two small children home alone with nothing to eat.

Court documents indicate that the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 25-year-old Cherokee Davis of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, on August 8, Oil City Police responded to a welfare check at a residence on Fern Court for a four-year-old child and a six-year-old child.

According to the complaint, the investigation showed that Cherokee Davis left the two children home without adult supervision or anything to eat. Davis allegedly left her residence for work at 6:00 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. two children were found knocking on a neighbor’s door to tell the neighbor they were hungry.

The complaint notes that Davis contacted the neighbor earlier that day to ask if she would be able to babysit the children, and the neighbor said she would not be available due to appointments.

According to the complaint, Davis misled Chief Wenner and Officer Anderson by providing them with false information stating that she had child supervision available.

Based on the investigation, Davis was arraigned at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.

She faces the following charges:

– Endangering Welfare of Children — Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Felony 3
– Endangering Welfare of Children — Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Tamper With/Fabricate Physical Evidence, Misdemeanor 2

Davis is currently free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22.
