Venango County Man Accused of Grabbing Victim by Throat, Slamming Her Against Dresser

PLUM TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Venango County man is facing strangulation and related charges after he allegedly grabbed a victim by the throat and slammed her against a dresser during a domestic altercation.

According to court documents, on December 12, Franklin-based State Police filed the following criminal charges against 42-year-old Corey Nichols, of Titusville:

– Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

On December 12, Trooper Owens, of Franklin-based State Police, was dispatched to a residence on Meadville Road in Titusville, Plum Township, Venango County, for an inactive incident of domestic violence.

Upon Trooper Owen’s arrival, the victim informed him that she and Corey Nichols were in the bedroom when she noticed that her money, bank card, and other items were missing, according to a criminal complaint.

The victim reported that she confronted Nichols about the missing items, and he grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the dresser, the complaint states.

The victim stated that Nichols then picked her up and threw her over the bed where she landed in between the bed and the dog cage, the complaint continues.

The victim had a cut on her left eyelid allegedly caused by Nichols’ fingernail.

In addition, her neck was red from where Nichols allegedly grabbed her.

The victim also showed Trooper Owens bruises on her chest.

Nichols was subsequently arrested.

He was arraigned at 4:30 p.m. on December 12 in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on December 19 in Venango County Central Court.
