Polk Man Accused of Breaking into Garage, Stealing Vehicle While Naked

BRADY TWP, Pa. — A Venango County man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly broke into a garage and stole a vehicle while he was nude.

Court documents indicate Butler-based State Police filed criminal charges against 36-year-old Daniel Matthew Woodworth, of Polk.

According to a criminal complaint, around 2:14 p.m. on Monday, August 20, Trooper Stimac, of PSP Butler, was dispatched to a residence on Staff Road in Brady Township, Butler County, for a report of a stolen gray 2000 GMC Savana. The victim stated that she had seen an unknown man driving the vehicle from her residence.

The complaint states that when Trooper Stimac arrived at the scene, the gray Savana was in the driveway, and the victim was walking toward the vehicle. When Trooper Stimac approached the vehicle, he discovered Daniel Matthew Woodworth seated in the driver’s seat and ordered him to step out of the vehicle and lay down on his stomach on the ground.

Woodworth was then taken into custody.

The complaint notes that Woodworth was completely nude.

Victim Interviewed

In an interview with Trooper Stimac, the victim stated that she had returned home to see the vehicle pulling out of the driveway and heading west on State Route 528, at which point she called the police.

She reported that after calling the police, she looked out and saw the vehicle parked back at the end of the driveway. She explained that the vehicle had been parked in a detached garage, and noted that the roof of the vehicle and the garage door had been damaged.

Woodworth Arraigned, Jailed, Awaiting Preliminary Hearing

Woodworth was arraigned at 9:40 p.m. on Monday, August 20, in Magisterial District Judge William S. O’Donnell’s office on the following charges:

  • Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Bodily Injury Crime, Felony 1
  • Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 2
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3
  • Indecent Exposure, Misdemeanor 2
  • Criminal Mischief — Damage Property, Misdemeanor 3
  • Disorder Conduct Obscene Language/Gesture, Summary

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Butler County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, with Judge O’Donnell presiding.
