FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Felony charges against an Oil City man who fled from police on a dirt birt have been waived for court.

According to court documents, on August 29, the following charges against 37-year-old Jamie W. Sprague, of Oil City, have been transferred to Venango County Court of Common Pleas:

– Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, Felony 3
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Driving While Operator’s Privilege Suspended Or Revoked, Summary
– Driving Unregistered Vehicle, Summary
– Duties At Stop Sign, Summary
– Operating Vehicle W/O Required Financial Responsibility, Summary
– Reckless Driving, Summary

On August 29, Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish changed Sprague’s bail from $25,000.00 monetary bail to $25,000.00 unsecured, and he was released. The bail action reason was listed as “Per Judge — So the defendant can be sent to state,” according to court documents.

Court documents indicate Sprague is currently lodged at SCI Mercer.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:53 p.m. on August 23, Patrolman Floor, of the Franklin Police Department, attempted a traffic stop on a Kawasaki dirt bike. The bike continued its travel from the 600 Block to the 700 Block of Elk Street, making a right turn onto to the 200 Block of 8th Street, crossing the 8th Street Bridge, and then continued its travel onto the Franklin/Oil City bike trail.

The bike was traveling at speeds of 70 MPH, the complaint states.

The operator — later identified at Jamie Sprague — eventually stopped and surrendered to police in Oil City at Osborne Street.

He was arraigned at 8:30 p.m. on August 23 in front of Judge Fish and lodged in the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 monetary bail.
