Transient Accused of Stealing Sign at Venango Regional Airport

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A transient allegedly stole a sign at the Venango Regional Airport.

According to court documents, on September 5, the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 44-year-old Jason M. Urbassik, listed as a transient.

The charges are the result of a theft that occurred at 1560 Airport Road, in Franklin, Venango County, on August 24 involving Jason Urbassik.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Patrolman Wagner, of the Franklin Police Department, on August 28, 2019, it was reported to the City of Franklin Police Department that Jason M. Urbassik was witnessed and video recorded on August 24, around 8:30 p.m. stealing a No-Trespassing sign belonging to the Venango Regional Airport.

The sign, with a value of $265.00, was located on the outside perimeter of the secured fence on the property line of 1256 Mercer Road in Franklin and the Venango Regional Airport.

The sign was securely fastened to the fence and had to be altered/vandalized in order to be removed.

Restitution is being requested for the full price of the sign.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on October 9 in Venango County Central Court with Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland presiding.

Urbassik faces the following charges:

– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
– Criminal Mischief-Another Pecuniary Loss, Summary

A certified summons for Urbassik was issued on September 6.
