Hearing Scheduled for Man Accused of Stalking

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A man accused of stalking is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday morning.

Court documents indicate that 58-year-old John E. Longendorfer III, of Waynesburg, Pa., was arraigned at 9:20 a.m. on Friday, July 20, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on the following charges:

– Stalking — Repeatedly Communication To Cause Fear, Felony 3
– Harassment — Communication Repeatedly in Another Manner, Misdemeanor 3

Unable to post $25,000.00 cash bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Monday, June 25, John E. Longendorfer III made contact with a known victim in violation of a currently active Protection from Abuse Order through three letters composed by Longendorfer in December of 2017 and postmarked June 22, 2018, in Pittsburgh.

The complaint states that Patrolman Culp, of the Oil City Police Department, reviewed nearly one hundred samples of Longendorfer’s handwriting and was able to identify the handwriting on the envelope and letter mailed to be Longendorfer’s.
