Venango County Jail Inmate Accused of Throwing Chair at Corrections Officer

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — An inmate at the Venango County Jail is facing assault charges after he allegedly threw a chair at a corrections officer.

Court documents indicate that the Franklin Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 31-year-old Justin Robert Steetle of Franklin:

  • Criminal Attempt — Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
  • Criminal Attempt — Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, around 5:40 p.m. on November 10, Franklin Police Officers were dispatched to the Venango County Jail for a report of an assault.

According to the complaint, the officers reviewed footage at the jail that depicted Justin R. Steetle throwing a chair at a corrections officer, in an attempt to cause bodily injury. Police say the chair did not hit the Corrections Officer.

Charges were filed against Steetle on Tuesday, November 20, in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office.

Steetle remains lodged in the Venango County Jail, where he is currently serving time for felony drug manufacturing, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and a felony controlled contraband charge.
