CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Two Titusville women are facing retail theft and related charges following an incident at a Cranberry Township store in Venango County.

According to a criminal complaint, Franklin-based State Police investigated a
retail theft that occurred on May 17 at Walmart in Cranberry Township.

A Walmart’s loss prevention associate stated that he saw three females enter the store, and two of them filled their purses with clothing, left, and did not pay for the items. He confronted the two females as they left the store, and they proceeded to leave in a car driven by a known, 23-year-old woman, the complaint states.

The known, 23-year-old woman later went to the Titusville Police Department and reported that she was not involved, but two people with her — 27-year-old Megan Victoria Jewell and 24-year-old Jessica Lynn Wilson, both of Titusville — admitted to stealing clothing, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, Jessica Wilson traveled back to Walmart to return the stolen clothing and turn herself in. She was processed and fingerprinted at the Franklin barracks.

A criminal check was run on Megan Jewell which indicated four prior retail theft convictions.

On May 21, Franklin-based State Police called Jewell to inform her that charges of retail theft were being filed against her. She allegedly hung up the phone before arrangements could be made to have her meet state police in district court, the complaint continues.

On May 24, the loss prevention specialist at Walmart stated that he observed Jewell five times after he had given her written notice that she was not permitted to be in the Cranberry Township Walmart, the complaint states.

Case against Jewell

Court documents indicate that Jewell faces the following charges:

– Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, Felony 3
– Defiant Trespass Actual Communication To, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled, according to court documents.

Case against Wilson

On May 22, a non-traffic citation for a summary charge of Retail Theft-Take Merchandise was filed against Wilson in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.

Court documents indicate a certified summons was issued for Wilson, and the court is awaiting a plea.
