SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin man is facing assault and related charges after he allegedly struck and kicked a victim during a domestic dispute.

According to court documents, on Wednesday, December 19, Franklin-based State Police filed the following criminal charges against 45-year-old Mitchell Shawn Croyle, of Franklin:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (three counts)

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:23 a.m. on December 19, Trooper Cirell, of Franklin State Police, was dispatched to an active domestic violence situation in Sugarcreek Borough.

Upon his arrival, Trooper Cirell interviewed the victim who related that Mitchell Croyle grabbed her by the hair and dragged her from the kitchen sink to the back door of the residence, the complaint states.

She reported that once at the back door, Croyle hit her in the left eye with his hand and kicked her in the left leg.

Trooper Cirell observed small cuts on the left side of the victim’s nose and on her left cheek, dark bruise on her left eye, and a bruise on her left leg, the complaint states.

The complaint indicates that blood on the floor at the back door of the residence was also observed. The victim stated that Croyle had attempted to clean the blood prior to Trooper Cirell’s arrival.

When Trooper Cirell asked Croyle how the victim received the cuts and bruising on her eye, Croyle replied, “I might have hit her,” according to the complaint.

Trooper Cirell then asked Croyle if he “might” have hit her or if he “did” hit her, and Croyle replied, “I hit her,” the complaint states.

Croyle was arraigned at 2:00 p.m. on December 19 in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on January 9 with Judge Lowrey presiding.

Croyle is free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.
