Oil City Man Faces Charges After Allegedly Shoving, Striking Woman in Front of Young Child

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing after shoving and striking a woman during a domestic dispute at a residence on Manning Street.

According to online court documents, the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 35-year-old Paul Raymond Marsh Jr., of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:42 a.m. on January 4, Oil City Police Officers received a report of a female and child being involved in a domestic dispute with a male suspect at a residence on Manning Street, in Oil City.

The complaint states that police made contact with the female victim, who was subsequently transported to the Oil City Police Department where she stated that Paul Marsh Jr. had pushed and struck her during a domestic dispute in front of a known, minor child.

Furthermore, while attempting to lead the child from the residence, Marsh allegedly grabbed a knife. It is alleged that the known woman ushered the child from her residence and fled to a family member’s residence, the complaint continues.

The victim stated that “she was in fear of death and/or serious bodily injury because of Marsh’s actions and his violent behavior,” according to the complaint.

Marsh was arraigned at 12:41 p.m. on January 4 in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, Marsh was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on January 11 in Venango County Central Court with Judge Kirkland presiding.
