Franklin Woman Accused of Forgery

SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin woman is facing charges after she allegedly forged another woman’s name on an employment termination form.

According to court documents, the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 28-year-old Shawna M. Odell, of Franklin, on August 31.

A complaint was received from a victim who stated that her name had been forged on an employment termination form.

Lieutenant Ashbaugh, of the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, spoke with the accused,Shawna Odell, who denied any knowledge of the forged document, according to a criminal complaint.

Lieutenant Ashbaugh then sent the form, as well as other known writing samples, to the PSP Forensic lab for analysis.

After the testing, Odell was interviewed again and admitted to signing the victim’s name on the form without permission, the complaint states.

Odell was arraigned at 9:00 a.m. on August 31 in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on the following charge:

– Forgery — Unauthorized Act In Writing, Felony 2

Odell is free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 5, in front of Judge Lowrey.
