Connell R. “Con” Taylor

Taylor Pic - web and paperConnell R. “Con” Taylor, 80, of Sligo, PA, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Clarview Nursing Home.

He was born September 24, 1936 in Sligo, the son of Roy Lee Taylor and Viola M. (Henry) Taylor.

Con was a lifetime resident of Sligo and graduated from Sligo High School in 1954. He earned an Associate’s degree in business from DuBois Business School and worked as the personnel director at C&K Coal Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. After his retirement, Con could be found working at State Farm Insurance in Sligo for many years. He loved helping his community, serving as the former mayor of Sligo and for two terms as the Clarion County Jury Commissioner.

In addition to his official duties, Con found time to be involved in other local organizations. He was a member of Sligo United Methodist Church and was a 32nd-degree Mason with the Camby Lodge. Con also belonged to the Zem Zem Shriners, Royal Order of Jesters, Sligo Lions Club, Sligo Sportsman Club and numerous other groups.

Con’s favorite pastimes were taking road trips, hunting, golfing and watching the elk in Benezette. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard and spending time with friends and family. Con will be best remembered for his outgoing personality and having a genuine love of people.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Dayna L. Armagost and husband, Brian, of Brunswick, OH and Vonda K. Malizia and husband, Stephen, of Montoursville, PA; grandchildren, Taylor Armagost, Nathan Armagost, Dominic Malizia and Stephen Malizia, II and sisters, Esma Elliott and Bonnie Taylor, both of Sligo.

Con was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Beverly K. (Nie) Taylor, whom he married August 25, 1962 and who died in April 19, 1997; grandson, Anthony Malizia; brother, William C. Taylor; sister, Wanda L. Buzard; and half-brother, Warren L. Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main St., Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Sligo United Methodist Church, 506 Penn St., Sligo, PA, with the Rev. Craig Peterson officiating.

Interment will be in Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, PA.
