RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An area contractor is facing felony charges after he allegedly accepted advance payment for services and failed to deliver.

Franklin-based State Police say Chad Michael Eckenrode, 36, of Saegertown, is facing one third-degree felony count of “Receives Advance Payment For Services and Fails to Perform.”

The charges — filed under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act — stem from a July 2016 incident in which an Emlenton couple paid Eckenrode’s company, Eckenrode Handyman Services, $12,560.00 to complete a home construction project.

After receiving the money, Eckenrode “completed limited work and failed to complete the project,” according to police.

Eckenrode was placed in the Venango County Jail after failing to post $25,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for March 1 in Venango County Central Court.
