PLUM TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Cooperstown man is facing felony charges for allegedly breaking into a Plum Township residence and stealing X-Men comic books.

According to online court documents, Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 39-year-old Daniel William Ford, of Cooperstown.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:03 p.m. on January 26, Trooper Malek, of PSP Franklin, was dispatched to Lesh Road in Plum Township for a reported burglary.

The victim advised Trooper Malek that between 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., a person entered his residence, removed 10 X-Men comic books valued at $40.00, and then fled the scene. He also noted that a known relative has entered his house in the past and removed coins and admitted to the same act, the complaint states.

Upon interviewing the relative — Daniel Ford — it was learned, though his own admission, that he entered the victim’s residence and removed the comic books, the complaint indicates.

The suspect’s mother returned the comic books to the victim on the same day, the complaint continues.

Ford was arraigned at 12:15 a.m. on January 26 in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on the following charges:

  • Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
  • Receiving Stolen Property
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3

Bail was denied as Ford has an outstanding bench warrant from Crawford County for a probation violation.

He was placed in the Venango County Jail awaiting his preliminary hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on February 1 in Venango County Central Court.
