OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Charges against a Cranberry man for corruption of minors has been moved into plea court.

According to court documents, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, the following criminal charges against 22-year-old Brandon L. Sheats, of Cranberry, were waived for court:

  • Corruption of Minors, Misdemeanor 1
  • Sell/Furnish Liquor Etc Minor, Misdemeanor 3

The charges have been transferred to Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Sheats is currently free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:00 p.m. on September 19, 2017, Brandon Sheats came to the Oil City Police station and agreed to speak with Patrolman Rembold regarding an incident of furnishing alcohol to minors that occurred around August 1, 2017.

During the interview, Sheats stated that he was talking with a known female juvenile, and she asked about him getting alcohol. He stated that at first, he kind of put it off that he could get in trouble and then stated that he agreed as long as “no one gets in trouble,” according to the complaint.

When questioned about his message to the victim: “What was in it for me,” Sheats didn’t answer, and Patrolman Rembold stated that Sheats “seemed like he didn’t know what to say,” the complaint states.

According to the complaint, when asked about his messages concerning “pictures of the 15-year-old girl naked or oral sex or sex,” Sheats did not deny it and stated that “he just wanted to see if maybe she was attracted to him.”

He was arraigned at 2:15 p.m. on December 18 in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.
