COOPERSTOWN BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Cooperstown man accused of assaulting a woman and threatening to shoot her in the head is due in court on Wednesday.

According to court documents, 45-year-old Brian R. Ditzenberger, of Cooperstown, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, with Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish presiding.

He faces the following charges:

• Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
• Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
• Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
• Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
• Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Ditzenberger remains lodged in the Venango County Jail. Court documents indicate he was denied bail as a “threat to society.”

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Cirell, of the Franklin-based State Police, was dispatched to a residence on Hillcrest Avenue in Cooperstown Borough on Thursday, September 20. At the scene, Trooper Cirell made contact with a known victim who related that over the past week, Brian Ditzenberger engaged her in two physical altercations which resulted in injuries to both of her arms and both of her knees.

The victim explained that during the first altercation, Ditzenberger chased her into the living room of the residence and smashed a glass plate over her right arm causing severe lacerations, bruising, and broken glass shards that remained in her arm, the complaint states.

The victim went on to say that during a second altercation, Ditzenberger tackled her onto the floor, causing scrapes to her knees. She reported that after they both stood up, Ditzenberger struck both of her arms causing bruising and also said that he later made a threat to shoot her in the head, the complaint continues.

The victim’s injuries were photographed as evidence.

Ditzenberger was arraigned in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on Friday, September 21.
