Cranberry Softball Sweeps Past Keystone; A-C Valley Downs Union

KNOX, Pa. (D9Sports) — Cranberry went on the road and swept a doubleheader from Keystone winning 14-0 in five innings in the opener and 14-4 in five innings in the nightcap.

In the first game, Maria Anderson fired a perfect game. She struck out nine.

Anderson helped her own cause going 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs.

Also for the Berries, Kaylie Bruce was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Andrea Watson was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Jenna Seigworth was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Tamaria Flinspach was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Megan Hadden added three runs scored.

In the second game, Hadden and Emily Duncan both hit home runs in the win, while Rachel McCauley doubled twice.

Hadden was 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBIs, Duncan, who added a double, was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, and McCauley, who had a double in the first game as well, was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double.

Also for Cranberry in the second contest, Olivia Plummer went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, Maddie Cornelius was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored and Flinspach was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Plummer got the win going five innings allowing four runs on eight hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out five.

Jessi Phillippi hit a home run for Keystone while going 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and three RBIs. Jacy Pritt added a pair of hits for the Lady Panthers.

A-C VALLEY 15, UNION 0, 3 INNINGS

WEST FREEDOM, Pa. — Cami McNany went 2 of 3 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs to help A-C Valley to a 15-0, three-inning win over visiting Union.

Baylee Blauser was also 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Lady Falcons with Andrea Meals hitting a two-run home run in the third inning and scoring twice. Sydnie Schmidt added a 2-for-2 day with a double, a walk and two runs scored, Kylee Eaton and Emily Wetzel each doubled, walked and scored twice and Brogan Armagost scored two times.

Kia Marsh was 1 of 2 for Union.

Schmidt got the win going 2 ⅓ innings allowing a hit while striking out two. Wetzel pitched ⅔ of an inning striking out one.

REYNOLDS 6, MONITEAU 5

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. — Reynolds scored three times in the top of the seventh and then held off a rally from Moniteau that saw the Lady Warriors scored three of their own in the bottom of the inning to escape West Sunbury with a 6-5 win.

Moniteau left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.

Grace Deschand led Reynolds going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kelsey McAdoo also drove in two runs while going 1-for-3 with Andrew Hilyer going 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored, Mackenzie Herman going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Lauren Bonner going 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI.

Abby Rottman was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs to pace Moniteau. Dolcey Shunk went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Taylor Thomas was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Cassidy Claypoole walked four times and scored twice and Amanda Dailey went 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

Bonner got the win pitching 5 ⅔ innings allowing two runs, both earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out three. Herman gave up three runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks while striking out one in ⅔ of an inning of work, and Kelly Park, who doubled at the plate, got the save going ⅔ of an inning scoreless walking one and striking out one.

Courtney Stewart took the loss giving up two runs, one earned, on six hits and four walks in five innings of work. Andrea Eiler gave up four runs, three earned, on five hits in two innings in the circle.
