Cranberry Softball Vanquishes Nemesis in Five Innings

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. (D9Sports) — For the last few years, Moniteau has stood in the way of Cranberry achieving its ultimate goal in softball.

This year appears to be different.

A strong Cranberry squad needed just five innings to knock off the rebuilding Lady Warriors, 14-4, on the road in West Sunbury.

Natalie Barcinas led the charge on offense for the Berries going 2-for-3 with a double and a home run while walking once, scoring twice and driving in one.

Winning pitcher Andrea Watson helped herself by going 1-for-4 with a single, a run scored and two RBIs. She also got the win allowing four runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batter while striking out three.

Maddie Cornelius added three hits and two runs scored for Cranberry, which used an 11-run third-inning to break the game wide open, while Libby Kiefer was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Hannah Duncan was also 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Emily Duncan was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and four RBIs, Jenna Reynolds was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI and Malliah Schreck 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.

Dolcey Shunk doubled, was walked, was hit by a pitch and scored a run for Moniteau, while Megan Helper was 1-for-3 with a double.

WARREN 7, FRANKLIN 0, 9 INNINGS

FRANKLIN, Pa. — Warren’s Ellie Lobdell struck out 15 and didn’t allow a hit, and Warren scored seven times in the top of the ninth to pick up a 7-0 road win over Franklin.

FORT LEBOEUF 17, OIL CITY 1, 3 INNINGS

OIL CITY, Pa. — Morgan Donnell, Brittany Arndt and Mackenzie Kulik each drove in three runs to lift visiting Fort LeBoeuf to a 17-1, three-inning win at Oil City.

Arndt had a triple and also scored twice with Donnell getting a hit and three walks while scoring twice and Kulik adding a hit and two runs scored.

Nicole Skokowski scored for Oil City being driven in by Rylee Merwin.
