Oil City Woman Escapes Injury after Being Trapped in Vehicle

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police responded to a one-vehicle accident on East State Road in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police at 12:05 p.m. December 30, 55-year-old Betty J. Varner, of Oil City, was traveling west in a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.

Varner lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and traveled off of the north berm into a deep ditch.

The passenger side front of the vehicle impacted the ditch.

The vehicle continued to travel west in the ditch for approximately 100 feet before coming to final rest in the ditch.

Due to the position of the vehicle, Varner was not able to open her door to exit the vehicle.

Varner was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
