CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An employee of Walmart in Cranberry Township is facing charges after she admitted to stealing cash, rotisserie chickens, cigarettes and other merchandise while working as an employee at the store.

Franklin-based State Police Tpr. Owens filed the following charges against 58-year-old Sandra Lee Blyler on August 30:

  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1

A criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey indicates the charges stem from an August 10 investigation in which Tpr. Owens was dispatched to Walmart in Cranberry Township, Venango County, for a report of an employee theft.

Upon arrival, Walmart Asset Protection personnel informed Tpr. Owens that Blyler had been stealing cash from her registers since June 16.

According to the criminal complaint, Blyler completed a state police voluntary statement form admitting that she stole cash, several packs of cigarettes, rotisserie chickens, candy bars, and clothes.

Blyler faces a preliminary hearing on October 3 at 8:30 am before Judge Lowrey.
