State Police Searching for Driver in Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Venango County

IRWIN TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police are searching for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early this morning on Interstate 80 westbound in Irwin Township, Venango County.

Investigators say the incident happened around 4:36 a.m. near mile marker 31.5.

Lisa Marie Rogerson, 48, of Wheatley Heights, NY, was traveling west when – for undisclosed reasons – she crashed into a median causing disabling damage to her vehicle.

Police say Lisa Rogerson and a passenger – Cliff Joseph Rogerson, 23, also of Wheatley Heights, NY – exited the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver side door was unable to open following the accident.

Lisa Rogerson then re-entered the passenger side of the vehicle; however, she was not looking in the direction of Cliff Rogerson.

Cliff Rogerson proceeded to the south side of the left lane where he was fatally struck by an unknown vehicle traveling westbound.

Investigators believe he was attempting to flag down a passing vehicle prior to being hit.

Lisa Rogerson was unable to provide a description of the vehicle.

The accident closed Interstate 80 westbound between Exit 35 (Clintonville, Route 308) and Exit 29 (Barkeyville/ Franklin-Oil City, Route 8) for approximately six hours.

It reopened around 10:30 a.m.

Franklin-based State Police, Clintonville VFD, Emlenton Ambulance, and Superior Ambulance responded to the scene.
