Crews Battle New Year’s Day Structure Fire at Forest County Business

FOREST COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at a business in Forest County on New Year’s Day.

According to a representative of Clarion County 9-1-1, the call came in at 8:03 a.m. for a structure fire at Northwest Hardwoods Mill located at 237 Highland Drive in Marienville.

Marienville Volunteer Fire Company, Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company, and Clarion Hospital EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Washington Township and Sigel Township Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched but then canceled, according to Clarion County 9-1-1.

The scene was cleared at 10:30 a.m.

State Police Fire Marshal Watters, of the Marienville-based State Police, was called to the scene.

According to Watters, the fire started in a truck outside the building. The fire then spread to the building.

The truck and a backhoe were destroyed.

The total loss is estimated around $100,000.00.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
