She also competed in the Long Jump, taking 11th with a leap of 5.23m that was also a PR.

Elsewhere, Katie Brest took 15th in the Weight Throw with a toss of 14.22m, while Summer Murray threw the implement a distance of 13.64m. Kayce Bobnar competed in the 5000m, finishing in a time of 19:45.83.

SOFTBALL WINS TWO

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Clarion softball team got a pair of strong pitching performances and some timely hitting, leading them to a sweep of Saint Augustine’s 14-1 and 3-2.

The Golden Eagles improve their record to 2-6 overall to start the season.

Game 1

Rebecca Kelley pitched 5 strong innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out five. Moriah Lynn paced the Golden Eagle offense going 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored while driving in two.

Haley Pszyk was 2 for 2 at the plate with two runs scored while Jessica Cartia had two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored.

Game 2

Clarion led 2-1 for most of the game and added an all-important insurance run in the 7th inning to extend their lead to 3-1. That run would prove pivotal as the Golden Eagles held on for a 3-2 victory in Game 2.

Macy Rubin came on and got a strikeout to end the game in the bottom of the 7th with the tying and winning runs on 2nd and 3rd. Clarion starter Sarah Gossard gets the win, while Rubin picks up the save.

Moriah Lynn’s base hit in the top of the 7th to drive in Taylor Nonnenberg proved to be the difference in the game.

Gossard was stellar throughout the game, not allowing a single base hit until the 6th inning.

The Golden Eagles will be off until their spring break trip to Florida beginning on March 10.
