The Golden Eagles (6-13, 1-3 PSAC West) fell by a score of 7-3 in the first game and by a 3-0 score in the second.

Derek Pritchard (1-1) fell in the early game, allowing six runs in 5.1 innings pitched. Chance Miranda (0-2) threw a solid game in the nightcap, allowing three runs – none earned – over 5.2 innings. Nick Fugh and Dustin Daihl drove in runs on the day, with Fugh going 2-of-4 in the first game.

The Golden Knights tacked on one run apiece in the first, third and fourth innings of Game 1, with the Golden Eagles unable to capitalize despite putting runners in scoring position in that time. Gannon came alive for four runs in the sixth inning, but Clarion pushed back in the top of the seventh. Chandler Palyas led off with a single and eventually came around to score on Fugh’s RBI single to make it 7-1. Will Constantin walked to get aboard and ultimately scored on a wild pitch, and Daihl brought Fugh across with two outs to make it 7-3. Dillon Wolbert added a two-out single before the Golden Knights quashed the rally.

Clarion had a tougher time getting things going offensively in Game 2 but had chances that were prevented thanks to timely defense from their opponents. In the top of the second inning, a wild pitch nearly brought Max Mari home, but the catcher was able to corral the ball and tag him out to keep it a scoreless game. Bryce Jackson hit a one-out single in the top of the fourth inning and got to second on a wild pitch, but back-to-back strikeouts finished off that scoring opportunity. Gannon tacked on all three of their runs in the fifth inning to take the win.
