MACKENZIE DUNN – JUNIOR – KARNS CITY

Daughter of: Russ Dunn and Christina Dunn
Sports Played: Volleyball, Softball, Track & Field
Family Members Playing/Played Sports: None
2017-18 HighlightsIn softball she helped Karns City to a 16-3 record and the District 5-8-9 championship by hitting .523 with a team-leading nine home runs to go with six doubles, two triples and 33 RBIs. She hit two home runs while driving in five against A-C Valley. She also pitched 8 ⅔ innings going 2-1 on the year with 12 strikeouts and was named a second-team All-KSAC performer in the infield. In track & field, she was first-team All-KSAC as a member of both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relays and helped Karns City to a fourth-place finish in D9 Class 2A in the 3,200 relay.
Post-High School PlansShe would like to attend college and play softball in college.

Q&A With Mackenzie Dunn

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in and why?
MD: Softball, because I have played with the same group of girls ever since I was young, and it is always fun.

D9Sports: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
MD: Winning the District 5/8/9 softball championship game two years in a row.

D9Sports: Why do you play high school sports?
MD: I play because I enjoy playing those sports and being active.

D9Sports: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career and why?
MD: My father has had the most influence he has always pushed me to my full potential.

D9Sports: Do you remember the first sport you played and did you like it right away or did it grow on you?
MD: The first sport I played was tee ball, and I think I always liked it.

D9Sports: Do you have a favorite number for a uniform? If so, what is the story behind that number?
MD: My favorite number is 47. It is my father’s favorite number, and it has been our favorite number for as long as I can remember.

D9Sports: What would someone who doesn’t know you be surprised to find out about you?
MD: That I am an awful cook.

D9Sports: If you could eat dinner with anyone famous (living or dead) who would it be and why?
MD: I would eat with Jennie Finch. She is a huge inspiration and an idol of mine.

D9Sports: Iphone or Android or Neither and why?
MD: Android that is what I have had for the last few years.

D9Sports: What is your go-to Social Media and why?
MD: Snapchat, it’s an easy way to talk to people.

D9Sports: What do you like most about high school and why?
MD: I like how I have all my friends in the same area because I can always see them and talk to them.

D9Sports: What do you like least about high school and why?
MD: The pressure of getting balancing school work with athletics.

D9Sports: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
MD: No.
