Dale Edward “Big Red” Amsler, 72 of Cranberry passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.

Born August 12, 1945,in Knox, Ed was the son of James and Mildred Amsler

Ed graduated from Keystone High School, then served in the United States Air Force from 1963 – 1969. After serving in the Air Force he went on to get an associate degree from Penn State. He worked for National Automatic Sprinkler Inc. for 42 years installing, repairing and inspecting sprinkler systems for fire protection.

On October 4, 1968, Ed married Carolyn Shreffler who survives.

Ed enjoyed collecting coins and sharing this hobby with his grandson Austin. He loved going to car shows with his 1968 GTX which he bought new off the showroom floor. He was a member of the Clarion County Rod and Gun and the Heartbreak Hotel. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed many trips out west hunting with the Elkatraz group.

Along with his wife Ed is survived by his daughter Belinda (Chris) Snyder of Oil City, his son William (Michelle) Amsler of Oil City, three grand children Courtney Amsler, Austin Snyder and Connor Snyder all of Oil City, a sister Marsha (Don) O’Neil of Knox and several nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James Amsler Jr. and Ron Amsler and two sisters Gloria Bixler and Gerry Buzzard,

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday and 10 to 11 AM Friday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home 504 East Penn Ave., Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Micklos officiating.

The Berlin-Bowser American Legion Post 720 of Knox will perform full military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Clarion County Sportsman for Youth, PO Box 953, Knox PA 16232 for Youth or Camo Cares, PO Box 972, Knox PA 16232
