Damage Estimates Exceed $139K for Vandalism Incident at Warren County School

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Sources say the estimate on the damages from the vandalism incident the occurred on June 16 at the Youngsville High School exceed $139,000.00 – almost three times the original estimate of $50,000.00 by the Pennsylvania State Police.

According to a published article in Warren Times Observer, Director of Buildings and Grounds Services Dr. Norbert Kennerknecht told the Warren County School District Board the damages exceed $139,000.00.

Three former YHS students, 19-year-old Duston A. Miller, of Youngsville; 18-year-old Taylor R. Keyes, 18, of Grand Valley; and 20-year-old Derek A. Gifford, 20, of Greensburg, were arrested and charged the day of the incident for extensive vandalism inside the school and at the adjacent football field press box.

The three men discharged a majority of the fire extinguishers in the building and spray painted items including smartboards, computer monitors, desks, chalkboards, a refrigerator, tables, doors, walls, and lockers.

They face 11 charges, as follows:

-two counts of burglary
-two counts of criminal mischief
-five counts of criminal conspiracy
-criminal trespass
-theft by unlawful taking

They were arraigned before District Justice Laura Bauer and lodged in the Warren County Jail, unable to post $50,000 bail each.
