Damages Estimated at $60,000 in Tionesta House Fire

TIONESTA TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Fire damaged a residence located on Myers Lane in Tionesta Township, Forest County, early Thursday morning.

According to Marienville-based State Police, the accidental fire started around 12:30 a.m. in an enclosed area around a wood stove chimney pipe. Radiant heat from the pipe ignited combustibles inside the enclosure.

The 14’x80′ structure located at 207 Myers Lane is owned by Gary Lyne Miles, 76, of Tionesta.

Two residents were at home at the time of the fire, but they were not injured, police say.

Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department Chief Troy Johnston requested the assistance of the State Police Fire Marshal Unit.

Damage was estimated at $60,000.00.
