David A. Barrett

David A. Barrett, 47, of 8 Smedley St. Oil City, Pa., died at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at his home following an extended illness.

Born May 6, 1966 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of Donna Showers Barrett and the late Frank Barrett.

Dave was a graduate of Cranberry High School.

He was employed as a plumber for Collins Plumbing and Heating of Oil City since 1985.

Dave was married on May 17, 2012 to Judy Stone Downs and she survives.

He enjoyed off roading and mudding. He also enjoyed working around the house, where he could fix anything and was always working on a home-improvement project. He took great pride in his workmanship.

He will be remembered as a quiet man, who was a hard worker and was always willing to help someone in need.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Donna Barrett, of Cranberry; two step-children, Kelly Weaver and her husband Brady of Oil City, and Heather Fletcher and her husband Rob of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren, Seth and Otis; two brothers, Dan Barrett, of Cranberry, and Bob Barrett and his wife Joyce, of Florida; and a niece, Amy Tobin and her children Kyle and Caitlin.

Dave is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Helen Drelick, of Oil City; Gene Showers, of Franklin; Sandy and Richard Showers, of Columbus, OH; Jim and Dottie Heigley, of Oil City; Alberta and Phil Maier, of Oil City; Jim Barrett, of Jupiter, FL; Margaret Barrett of Edinboro; and Sandy Dowlan, of Shippenville; and his-in-laws, Mary Fletcher, of Centennial, CO; Shirley and Leroy Collins of St. George; Nancy and Kim Henderson, of Oil City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews;

He was preceded in death by his father and by a brother Michael Barrett.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. on Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m with Rev. Rob Kifer of the Heckathorn United Methodist Church presiding.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
