David Newman SrDavid A. Newman, Sr., age 71, of Route 949 in Sigel, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at his residence.

David was born on March 3, 1946, to the late George O. Sr., and Appalonia “Pearl” (Muroski) Newman, in Pittsburgh, PA.

He attended High School near Pittsburgh and graduated in 1963.

Immediately after graduation he joined the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam; he was honorably discharged.

On August 13, 2004, he married Sally Jo (Glasgow) Newman in Las Vegas, NV; Sally survives him.

David was a member of the Fireman’s Club in Brookville, Fraternal Order of Eagles, #983 in Brookville, PA, and he was a lifelong member of the VFW.

He was also a lifelong mechanic who was able to work on just about anything, but he loved working on cars. He had a talent for working on diesel motors as well.

He found joy in simple things like sitting around the campfire at night playing cards with his friends and family; sometimes they would sit out all night.

He and Sally enjoyed shooting pool together and spent time in pool leagues.

Riding his motorcycle was one of his favorite pass times; he liked pushing his bike to the limit.

He enjoyed fishing and simply having a good time.

Those who know David will fondly remember that he wasn’t afraid to say what he thought, and he was always willing to help someone in need.

In addition to his wife Sally, David is survived by 7 sons; David A. Jr., Donald, Darren, Doug, Fred, Chris (Corin), and Mike (Tracy Anderson) Newman; 1 daughter; Tracy (Mark) Kovach; 1 step-son; Hyrum Schick III; 1 step-daughter; Tina Schick; 1 sister; Marlyn Palmer; 1 brother; George Newman Jr.; and several grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by 1 brother; Harry Newman; and 1 sister; Linda Cook.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 1pm — 4pm, at the McKinney — d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. Military honor’s will be performed at the end of the viewing, beginning at 4pm.

Interment will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
