David G. Rhea, 65, of Westwood Drive, Clarion, died Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born September 26, 1947 in Grove City; he was the son of Daryl W. Rhea Sr. and Helen L. Selker Rhea.

David was married on April 2, 1977 to the former Susan Spencer, and she survives.

He graduated from Clarion Limestone High School in 1966.  David was a 1970 graduate of Clarion State College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

A veteran, he served in the United States Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976.

In earlier years, David worked for Price Waterhouse & Co., LLC in Pittsburgh as a Senior Accountant.  He then was a cofounder of a coal and water testing laboratory for Stewart Laboratories in Strattanville.  He later owned and managed Eden Realty and Rhea Lumber Company in Clarion.

David was very active and involved in the community.  He served on the boards for Clarion Area School District, Industrial Development Corporation, Clarion Area Chamber of Commerce, and was past president of Kiwanis in Clarion.  David designed a renovation of faith-based youth recreation and discussion center, Clarion Newman Center.  He also was a member and volunteer for the Immaculate Conception PTO and worked as the Director of Catholic Campus Ministry at Clarion University.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica Rhea Brewer and her husband, Edward, of Bethel Park, and a son, Robert S. Rhea of Oakton, VA.

Also surviving are three brothers, Daryl W. Rhea Jr. and his wife, Susanne, of Clarion, Bruce Rhea and his wife, Ruth, of Sanford, FL, and John Rhea and his wife, Dixie, of Sanford, FL; and a sister, Terri Haws and her husband, George, of Sanford, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daryl and Helen Rhea, and an infant brother, Gregory Rhea.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, presiding.

Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clarion.
