David L. McCoy

| June 8, 2018

David was born April 29, 1944, and was a beloved son of Edna Hazen Mount. He grew up in Harmony, PA, and was a graduate of Zelienople High School.

David married his high school sweetheart, Carla Lutz, on October 10, 1964. They shared a loving marriage of 54 years.

He moved to Franklin in 1978 to manage State Equipment on Grant Street and later became Vice President. In 1991, he opened McCoy Equipment to sell smaller outdoor power equipment. From 1979 to 1992, he enjoyed raising foxes on their family farm and achieved great success as National Fox Show Champions three years in a row. He also loved hunting and fishing throughout his life.

David passionately loved God and shared his heart with friends, family and many others, and he considered everyone he met as his friend. He was an active member at Galloway U.M. Church since 1992 where he was known as the ‘church-hugger’. He loved southern gospel music and sang for 15 years with dear friends in many area churches in the group, “Homeward Bound”. He also took an active roll in getting Christian Radio into our local area.

He leaves behind his wife, Carla McCoy; daughter, Margo Schall, and husband, James, of Franklin; and son, David Shane McCoy, and wife, Johanna, of Polk. His pride and joy were his five grandchildren, Abigail, Julia, and Anna Schall, and Madelyn and Thomas McCoy.

Also surviving are sisters, Shirley Racan of Ellwood City, Rebecca Roberts of Barberton, OH; brother, Charles McCoy of Harmony; 11 nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald McCoy of New Castle; and his sister, Nancy Berlin, of Norton, OH.

Everyone is invited to attend a Memorial Service to ‘Celebrate the Life of David McCoy’ to be held at Galloway U.M. Church, 196 Seysler Road, Franklin on Saturday, June 16, at 10:00 a.m., with lunch to follow.
