David Lee Simpkins, 65, of Clarion, passed away on February 27, 2018, at UPMC Shadyside following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on July 11, 1952, in DuBois, the son of Frank R. and M. Althea (Corle) Simpkins. His father has preceded him in death. His mother survives, residing in DuBois.

In 1975, he married the former Penny Murphy, who survives.

He was the owner-operator of Corle-Benn Auto Parts in Clarion for more than 30 years, just recently retiring. Dave was an avid water skier. He attended the Coble Ski School in Lillington, North Carolina and was an instructor there, as well. He was looking forward to the opening of the new YMCA in Clarion and was a supporter of their efforts. Most of all, he enjoyed taking time to be with his family, his children and grandchildren and being with them. He especially enjoyed time with them spent on the Clarion River.

Dave is survived by his wife; his mother; his two sons; Brian Simpkins and wife Kara, of McClure, PA, and Christopher Simpkins and wife Brittany of Niantic, Connecticut; and his six grandchildren, Abigail, Brianna, Claire, Danielle, Elijah, and Taylor. He is also survived by his brother Richard Simpkins and wife Eileen, of South Carolina.

Memorial donations may be made in Dave’s name to the YMCA of Clarion County, 15952 Route 322, Suite 1, Clarion PA 16214 (www.clarioncountyymca.org).
