David P. English, 80, of Titusville, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Dave was born on July 24, 1937, in Titusville to the late Cletus M. and Madeline C. Karg English. He married Barbara Ann Wright on July 15, 1967, in Erie, PA.

He was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Academy. He served in the US Army in food service from 1961 through 1964 and was honorably discharged with the rank of specialist 4th class.

Dave worked in the family business with his father from 1955 through 1967 when he bought the business, English Service Center, and continued running it until his retirement in 2004.

One of the greatest joys of his life was meeting all the friends he had during his working life.

He loved getting his hands dirty and working on his customer’s cars.

He enjoyed family get togethers, trips to Hawaii and out West, Ireland, and vacations in Corolla.

He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in various sports and activities.

He also liked hunting, nature, and working in his yard.

Dave was a lifetime member of St. Titus Church and past president of its Parish Council and St. Titus School Board.

He is a member of the Titusville Alumni Board and the Titusville Area Hospital Auxiliary.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of 50 years.He is the loving father of Lori and husband Dan Hauptman of Titusville, Dr. Beth English and husband Steve Barnes of Pennington, NJ, and Dr. Gregory English and wife Dr. Lisa English of Erie. He is the dear grandfather of six grandsons, David and Jake Hauptman, Simon and Graham Barnes, and William and Sam English. He is also survived by the following sisters and brothers; Mary Beth Wager of Rome, NY, Robert English and wife Rosemary of Rocky River, OH, Jeanne English of Oil City, Gerald English and wife Carol of Columbus, OH, Patricia Powers and husband Francis of Salix, JoAnn English, widow of brother Donald English, of Titusville, Barbara Calka and husband Jack of Conemaugh, and James English of Hilton Head, SC and Chicago, Il.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margery and her husband Leroy Tempest; a brother, Donald English; and in-laws, Leon Wager, Joan English, and Vince Dowling.

Family and friends will be received at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Erie.
