David Paul Redding, 64, of 106 Church Street, Polk passed away on August 3, 2017 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Born on February 26, 1953 in West Leechburg, PA he was the son of the late James Sample Redding and Edna Marie Cappo.

David graduated in 1971 from Kiski Area High School and attended Bucknell on an Academic/Football scholarship. He earned a nursing degree at New Kensington Hospital.

David held various jobs in the medical field. The most rewarding were the years at the West Unit of the Franklin Hospital. He is remembered for the care and compassion given to the cancer patients and their families.

David was awarded Nurse of the Year on 2 separate occasions through the Franklin Hospital.

He was a past exulted ruler of Elks Club B.P.O.E. #110.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era.

He loved to fish and loved his dogs.

David is survived by his wife, Judy Robertson Redding of 28 years; his sisters Charlene Marks and husband, Dale, of Ankorage, Alaska and Sherry Weaver and husband, Joe, of New Kensington, PA.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David J. Redding, a brother, James “Skip” Redding and a sister, Edna Hall.

The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
