David “Tim” Tygert

David Timothy “Tim” Tygert, 65, of Seneca, unexpectedly left this world and entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 27, 2019.

He was born in Karuizawa, Japan on August 10, 1954, to the late Earl F. and Emogene F. Hanna Tygert.

Tim was married for 37 years to Cynthia “Cindi” Anne Kenemuth Tygert, who survives.

Tim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was pastor of Cornerstone Bible Church (formerly First Baptist), Oil City, for over 30 years; served on the board, often as president, of Christian Life Academy in Seneca, which his father founded in 1975; and served as director and, later, chairman of the board of Life Ministries in Franklin.

In addition to his wife, Tim is survived by his three children, Laurie Beth Tygert of Waynesboro, Virginia, Christy Ledebur and husband, Ryan, of Buffalo, New York, and Joshua Tygert, a student at Geneva College; three grandchildren, Emily, Charlie, and Maggie Ledebur of Buffalo; and four siblings, Faith Matsuoka of King City, Oregon, Jim Tygert and wife Judy of Redmond, Oregon, Joy Wry of Franklin, and Rich Tygert and wife Janie of Franklin.

Tim is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who fondly remember their Uncle Tim.

In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Tygert.

Tim was known for his love for God’s Word and his passion for teaching it to others. He encouraged everyone to know Christ and make Him known. Tim loved hiking, biking, and visiting national parks with his wife. He also went on many ministry trips including to Arizona, Brazil, Bolivia, and Japan.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th at Cornerstone Bible Church, 407 West First Street in Oil City, with Mike Lloyd officiating. Private interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery in Seneca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Life Academy, 3973 Route 257, Seneca, PA 16346.
