Dawn M. Kidney

Dawn Marie Kidney of Clarion, passed away on August 3, 2018, at the Clarion Hospital following her courageous battle with cancer. She was 66 years old.

Born on August 28, 1951, in Goshen, New York, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Bettie (Schuster) Lewis. After high school, she attended college and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She also attended Mercyhurst College completing work in religious studies.

In 1971, she married Dennis E. Kidney, who survives. Together, they raised three daughters and recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Dawn cherished time with her family. Together they would travel to the shore at Hammock Beach, Florida, or Jekyll Island, Georgia. She and Dennis enjoyed traveling with their friends, the Lapintos and the Rices. Dawn was a great cook who looked forward to putting together celebrations for her friends and family. She had an incredible sense of humor and loved it when she could make people smile or laugh.

Dawn was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. She served the parish as Religion Education Coordinator for more than 18 years. She also attended the Bible Study group, participated with the Ladies Guild, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and shared in the Children’s Liturgy.

In the Clarion Community, Dawn and her husband were founders of the ARC of Clarion and Venango County. She was also a founding member of the Blueprint Communities Committee for Clarion. Her contributions will be remembered for many years.

In addition to her husband, Dennis, Dawn is survived by her daughters, Stacey Agulto (Michael), of Haymarket, VA, Maribeth Kidney, of Clarion, and Denise Harris, of Sugar Hill, GA; and her five grandchildren, Elizabeth Dawn Kidney (Will James), Brianne Lynn Kidney, Anthony Joseph Harris, Nicholas Yamato Agulto, and Nathan Jomon Agulto. She is also survived by her brother, William Lewis (Tina), of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cheryl Gopel and husband Martin.

Memorial donations may be made in Dawn’s name to the Clarion-Forest Visiting Nurse Association, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion PA 16214 (www.cfvna.org), or Charitable Deeds and Services, 260 High Point Road, Knox PA 16242 (www.charitabledeeds.weebly.com).

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Main Street in Clarion with Father Monty Sayers as officiating. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
