Delwin Budd Thompson, 79, of Knox passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017, at his home following an extended illness.

Born April 9, 1938, in Callensburg, Budd was the son of Joseph and Lorena Thompson.

Budd attended school at White Memorial and was in the first class to graduate at Keystone High School then continued his education in Erie for electrical and refrigeration.

Budd worked at the Quaker State Refinery in Emlenton for 30 years and owned and operated Thompson Electric on the side for 40 years before handing over the reins to his son upon his retirement.

In 1957, Budd married Florence Monrean whom he would’ve celebrated 60 years of marriage with this December.

Budd enjoyed coaching little league, leading the boy scout troop 54 in Wentlings Corners, and hunting deer and ducks.

He was a faithful member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and served on the church council and was a Past Master of the Edenburg Lodge 550 in Knox.

Along with his wife Budd is survived by three children Kathy Kapp of Knox, Dale (Deb) Thompson of Emlenton, Lisa (Tom) Weeter of Wentlings Corners; five grandchildren Holly (Cole) Bowser of Shippenville, Missy (Bob) Amsler, Justin (Kaitlyn) Thompson, Shane (Nicole) Thompson, Taylor (Colt) ONeil; step-grandson Nick Campbell and seven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in law.

Budd was preceded in death by his parents, a son Kenny Thompson, a brother Larry Thompson, his mother and father in law Jackson and Mary Monrean three brothers in law Fred Mays, Junior Monrean and Rodger ONeil and a sister in law Kay ONeil.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home 504 East Penn Ave., Knox and from 12 to 1 PM Wednesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday in the Church with Pastor Karen Parsh officiating.
