Dennis L. McClelland, 54, of Oil City, died on May 25, 2012, at his home of natural causes.

Born Nov. 20, 1957, in Oil City Hospital, he was the son of Margaret L. Collingwood McClelland and the late Robert E. McClelland.

He grew up in Henrys Bend and attended West Forest schools.

He worked construction until 2006 when he became disabled from a roofing accident.

Dennis loved the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing and family cookouts.

Dennis belonged to many national organizations and made donations to many charities.

He is survived by three children, William Proctor of Georgia, Jeffrey McClelland of Oil City and Denise McClelland of Sharon; eight grandchildren; his mother, Margaret L. McClelland of Oil City; eight brothers and sisters, Victoria Abrams of Union City, Rose Carter of Georgia, John Cornor of Texas, Robert McClelland of Utica, Valorie Bowen of Franklin, Mark McClelland, LaVonne McClelland and Tina McClelland, all of Oil City; his companion of many years, Vicky McLaughlin; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Dennis’s life was held at his home on Sunday.
