Derek L. Black Sr.

Derek L. Black Sr., 59, of Erie, PA, formerly of Oil City, PA, passed away peacefully early Saturday evening at Lecom Senior Living Center in Erie, PA surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 9, 1959, in Oil City, PA, he was the son of the late Margaret Reisinger. He was raised by the Sopher/Braden family, of Two Mile Run.

In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Carlos Hood, Derek is also survived by his son, Jason Black, all of Oil City. Also surviving are numerous brothers and sisters. Derek is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Taylor Bodien and her daughter, Mollie Viele, of Franklin, Destinee Sheffer, and Zander Black, of Oil City, and Maximus Latona, of Oil City.

Derek attended Oil City High School and worked in construction for many years.

Derek was always up for adventure and loved Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Derek was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Reisinger and his beloved son, Derek Black, Jr. He was also preceded in death by several friends that he considered brothers: James Attleberger, Dale Foster and Terry Foster, Vic Plunkett and Mike Novak, all of Oil City.

Reinsel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Reinsel Funeral Home, 116 Bissell Ave. Oil City, PA. 16301 to help defray expenses.
