KNOX, Pa. (EYT) — On Wednesday, August 16, Keystone SMILES hosted a Horsethief Days brunch for senior members of the Knox community. Lois Buck Hedglin, of Franklin, and her son, Jim Hedglin, were among the guests who attended.

Lois is the great-granddaughter of Sebastian “Boss” Buck. She is the only remaining descendant of Sebastian Buck’s immediate family.

Lois Hedglin’s father was Ronald Eugene Buck and his father was Benton Buck, son of the original horse thief.

Sebastian “Boss” Buck’s legend is considered the origin for the long celebrated Horsethief Days in Knox.

A surprise visitor came to the brunch looking for Lois Buck Hedglin from Knox Borough Police, Officer Orr.

In the photo above, it seems like he was thinking of arresting her, but it was only done in jest. He came to the brunch to welcome her to the Knox community for the day.

Lois also had plans to ride on the Keystone SMILES float on Saturday.

Lois is pictured below at the gravesite of her great-grandfather, Sebastian “Boss” Buck.

The Buck family is very interested in her family’s genealogy and looks forward to a reunion with any other remaining members of the “Boss” Buck family.
