The regions are very similar to the ones preliminarily approved in late 2017 with the exception of a couple of sports including football, which will now be set-up mainly by classifications.

In football, that means Franklin and Oil City – both Class 5A schools – will be in Region 7 with Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane, Meadville, Warren and DuBois. DuBois and Fort LeBoeuf are both Class 4A teams. Those schools are the same schools as the proposed Region in December but in December that was considered to be Region 5 and now is considered to be Region 7.

There was also a change to Regions in girls’ basketball from the original proposal with Rocky Grove now moving into Region 1 with West Middlesex, Mercer, Jamestown, Commodore Perry, Farrell and Kennedy Catholic. The Orioles, in December, were placed in Region 2 with Wilmington, Sharpsville, Reynolds, Mercer, West Middlesex, Jamestown and Commodore Perry.

Also in girls’ basketball, in Region 6, Meadville has been added to the Region that includes Oil City, Franklin, Conneaut (Pa.), Grove City, Hickory and Slippery Rock.
