District 10 Releases Baseball and Softball Playoff Brackets

ERIE, Pa. (EYT) – District 10 released its baseball and softball playoff brackets Wednesday with a number of Venango County teams in action in the D10 postseason.

In baseball, defending Class 2A state champion Rocky Grove, which has won three consecutive District 10 titles – one in 1A and the last two in 2A – will be in action Friday in the 2A bracket, while Franklin and Titusville get byes in the first round of the Class 3A bracket.

Back to baseball, Rocky Grove is the fifth-place finisher from Region 3 and will take on Maplewood, the fourth-place finisher from Region 4, Friday, May 17, at a site and time to be announced. The winner will take on Region 3 champion Wilmington in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Slippery Rock University.

Slippery Rock University is where Franklin, winners of 16 in a row, will begin its quest for a District 10 title in Class 3A. The Knights, winners of Region 2, will take on the winner of Friday’s opening round contest between Region 5 fourth-place finisher North East and Region 2 fifth-place finisher Greenville at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Also on Monday at Ainsworth Field in Erie, Titusville, the third-place team out of Region 2, will take on Fairview, the second-place finisher out of Region 5, at 2 p.m. Both teams have byes into the quarterfinals.

In softball action, Rocky Grove, the second-place team out of Region 3, will take on Kennedy Catholic, the third-place team out of Region 1, in the quarterfinals Monday, May 20, at a site an time to be announced. The winner of that game will play Region 1 champion Commodore Perry in the semifinals Thursday, May 23, at a site and time to be announced.

Titusville, the Region 5 fourth-place team, will play Region 4 champion Girard in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A bracket at a time and place to be determined Tuesday, May 21, while Franklin, the third-place team out of Region 6, will take on General McLane, the second-place team out of Region 7, in the quarterfinals Monday, May 20, at a site and time to be announced.
