Donald A. Switzer, 86, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born Decem, er 6, 1930 in Rimersburg, the son of Ralph and Velma (Fowler) Switzer.

Donald was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Wildcat.

He served in the US Marine Corps and the US Air Corps during the Korean War and then worked at Pullman Standard of Butler as a painter for 30 years until his retirement in 1981.

Donald was proud of his service to the country and belonged to American Legion Post 454 and VFW Post 7132.

He loved antiques and collecting children’s lunch boxes.

Donald also enjoyed working as a former auctioneer.

He will be deeply missed by his son, Jeffrey Switzer, and wife, Linda, of Lexington, NC; daughter, Tracy Causey and husband, Jeff, of Lexington, NC; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Bernice Simpson, of Rimersburg, Janet Greenawalt and husband, John, of Erie, Gloria Kriebel and husband, Alvin, of Anderson, IN, Patty Elder, of East Brady, Bonnie Penstadler and husband, Wayne, of Pinehurst, NC, Jane Farley, of Buffalo, NY, and Sue Mohney, of Hawthorn, PA.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Switzer, who died April 27, 2017; brothers, Ralph and Jack Switzer; and sisters, Martha Patton and Pauline Myers.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church, Rimersburg, PA, with the Rev. Mark Deeter officiating.

Burial will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.
