Donald C. Irwin, Sr., 88, of Sandy Lake, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Sharon Regional Medical Center following an illness.

Born on December 23, 1930, in New Lebanon, PA, Don was the son of the late Carter and Emma Irwin. He was married to his wife of 30 years, the former Alice Shaffer, and she survives.

Don retired from the Ford Motor Company in Cleveland where he worked as a foreman. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and working with wood. He also enjoyed traveling around the United States with his wife, Alice.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his four sons, Donald Irwin, Jr. and his wife, Valerie, of North Carolina, and David Irwin, Darren Irwin and his wife, Diane, and Douglas Irwin, all of Cleveland; his two daughters, Rose Carter and her husband, Rod, of Georgia, and Dina Irwin and her husband, Phil Zimpfer, of Cleveland, OH; and his three step-daughters, Vickie Peterson and Cindy Peterson, both of Franklin, and Sue Reed and her husband, Dan, of Las Vegas.

He is additionally survived by his seven grandchildren, Dustin Irwin, Autumn Irwin, Megan Irwin, Eric Irwin, Kim Gallegos, and Michael and Andrew Nugent; and his sister, Martha Prystolaski of Meadville.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his three brothers, Jim, Oliver, and Matt Irwin; his sister, Laura May; his step-daughter, Joyce Ferris; and his brother-in-law, Tony Prystolaski.

A Celebration of Life Service for Don will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family.

The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin PA has been entrusted with his arrangements.
