OI1136090669_showersgeno001Donald E. “Geno” Showers, 73, of Franklin, PA. ,passed away at 4:30 A.M. Sunday July 2, 2017 at Oil City Healthcare & Rehab after a battle with esophogeal cancer.

Born June 9, 1944 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late George H. Showers & Delia Bridget Corbet Showers.

Gene was a 1963 graduate of Oil City High School.

He entered the United States Air Force on Oct. 4, 1963, and was discharged on Sept. 27, 1967.

Geno enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with his friends.

He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates & Steelers. He also enjoyed watching Nascar every week with the boys.

Gene had worked for railroad for several years before taking a job with Joy Manufacturing where he worked many years.

He is survived by a brother, Richard L. Showers & his wife Saundra of Columbus, OH; three sisters, Helen Drelick of Oil City, Donna Barrett of Cranberry, Dorothy Heigley & her husband Jim of Oil City; and a brother-in-law, William Kane of Butler, PA. and many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by special friends Jodie & Tad Burgert, Barry Burgert, Rocky & Jeannie Burgert, Susan Hilton, John Sterner, Randy Doutt and Jim & Sherry Shawgo

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Kane; two brother-in-laws’, Frank Barrett and Adam Drelick and two nephews, Dave Barrett and Michael Barrett.

Per his request, there will be no viewing or visitation.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard on Thursday July 6 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery.
