Donald ConferDonald L. Confer, 89, of Franklin passed away May 27, 2017 at Oil City Nursing and Rehab after a lengthy illness.

Born on April 6, 1928 in Galloway he was the son of Samuel and Anna Hinselman Confer.

He attended Rocky Grove High School.

He was married to Shirley Hoffman Confer and she survives.

Donald was of the Protestant faith.

He was a Teamster truck driver for most of his life. Locally he worked for Warner and Smith Motor Freight.

Donald loved flying and held commercial and multi-engine pilot ratings. He also enjoyed working on and riding his motorcycles. He was also a 32 degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #316 in Franklin.

Donald served in Air Force as a firefighter at Travis Air Force Base in California.

Donald is survived by wife Shirley and their children Barry Confer and his wife Jenifer of Stow OH, and Brent Confer and his wife Sandy of Ravenswood WV. Grandchildren surviving are Joel, Maria, Johanna, Jeff, and Rob of Stow, OH. Also surviving is a sister Anna Terrill of Gary, IN.

Preceded by his parents and sisters Carrie Ward, Evelyn Brown, Dot Smith, and Violet Compton, and brothers Carl and Delbert.

As per his wishes, there will be no public visitation. Faller Funeral Home, Inc., will be caring for the family.

Interment will be in the Venus Cemetery.

Memorials in Donald’s honor may be made to Venango County Humane Society, 286 S Main St, Seneca, PA 16346.

The family would like to thank the staff at Oil City Nursing and Rehab for their care during Donald’s stay there.
