Plumer DonaldDonald McCalmont Plumer Jr. 90 of 30 Smithman St. Oil City, PA. died at 8:00 P.M. Saturday July 25, 2015 after a period of declining health at the home of his son Sam surrounded by his family.

Born in Sugarcreek on Feb. 17, 1925 son of the late Donald M. and Helen Marshall Plumer Sr.

At an early age his family moved to Franklin . Before graduating, from Franklin H.S. in 1943 he enlisted in the US Army and was called to active duty in June.

He served in both the European and Asiatic/Pacific Theatre of Operations with the 387th Battlion, 97th Infantry Division were he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged on March 10, 1946 at the grade of Tech 5.

Following the war he worked for the Bureau of Mines and for H.T. Osborn Construction. In 1958, he started with the Pennsylvania Electric Co. He retired in 1990 after 32 years of service in the Engineering dept.

Don was quite active in the Boy Scouts of America . Serving in many capacities in the French Creek Council, Colonel Drake District.

Mr. Plumer was a third generation member of the Franklin B.P.O.E # 110 . He was a member of the VFW and the NRA.

Going to camp was always on the agenda. He enjoyed his A-frame at Two Mile.

On June 18, 1966 at St. Joseph Church in Oil City , He married the former Joyce M. Stover and she survives along with their two sons and their families: Samuel, and Marie Plumer of Oil City and their children Steven, Kathleen, Luke and Gabriele; Peter Plumer of Franklin and his children Madeline and Sarah; one sister Jean Kellerman of San Luis Obispo, CA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded by a brother in-law Jack Kellerman.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory, and again from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Wed. in the Funeral Home prior to the Military Service provided by the V.E.T.S Honor Guard.
A Memorial Mass will be held in the future, time will be announced.
