Donald Thomas Richardson, 90, of Center Valley, formerly of Oil City died Friday December 28, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, PA.

A son of the late Edward T. and Dorothy Cauvel Richardson he was born August 15, 1922 in Franklin. He was a 1940 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

Mr. Richardson served with the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion in Europe during World War II. His unit was awarded five Battle Stars for action in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. The unit was also awarded the presidential Citation with cluster for action in the Battle of the Bulge and the Rhine River Crossing.

Mr. Richardson was retired from the Public Utilities Commission for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Franklin Elks Lodge #110, member of Myrtle Lodge #316 F&AM, Oil City Lodge of Perfection and the Coudersport Consistory, member and past president of Venango County Shrine Club and the Zem Zem Temple of Erie.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed golfing with the Seniors League at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. He enjoyed spending time with his family and spending the winter months in the Myrtle Beach SC area. He also had resided in New Port Richey, Fl before moving to Center Valley, PA.

He was married in Pleasantville Presbyterian Church on September 14, 1942 to the former Betty J. Amsdell, who preceded him in death December 21, 2004. He married Phyllis Foster Dloniak who survives along with a daughter Karen Sue Myers and her husband Stephen of Center Valley, a son Donald T. Richardson Jr. and his wife Sherry of Polk; six grandchildren Curtis Dolan, Christi Martone, Nathaniel Myers, Mandy Zimmer, Wendy Biggs and Jonathan Richardson; seven great-grandchildren Cory and Tristen Lee, Barbara Karen Martone, Jordan and Joshua Dolan, Madison Zimmer, and Taylor Biggs.. Also surviving are two step-sons Jerald and Clifford Gustafson of Hagerstown, MD.

In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by two brothers Edward E. and R. Glenn Richardson.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Huff Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery.
